Electrophoretic coating is an advanced technology where the object to be painted is submerged in water-soluble paint, acting as the anode (anodic electrophoresis), with a corresponding cathode set up. A direct current passes between these poles, causing the paint to coat the object evenly through the physical and chemical effects of the current. The process flow of electrophoretic coating on general metal surfaces is meticulously structured as follows: Pre-cleaning → On-line → Oil removal → Washing → Rust removal → Washing → Neutralization → Washing → Phosphating → Washing → Passivation → Electrophoretic coating → Cleaning on the tank → Ultra-filtration → Drying → Off-line. Electrophoretic coating encompasses four concurrent processes, each contributing to the superior quality of the final coated product.

1. Electrophoresis: Under a DC electric field, colloidal particles, charged either positively or negatively, move towards the opposite pole. This movement, known as swimming, is fundamental to the coating process.
2. Electrolysis: Redox reactions occur at the electrodes, resulting in oxidation and reduction phenomena that are crucial for the coating integrity.
3. Electrodeposition: Due to electrophoresis, charged colloidal particles migrate towards the anode, releasing electrons and depositing in an insoluble state on the template surface, forming a robust paint film.

5. Iron Red Epoxy Electrophoresis Paint Example: The electrophoresis paint system includes modified epoxy resin, butanol, ethanolamine, talc, and iron red. When mixed with distilled water and subjected to a DC electric field, it separates into positively charged cations and negatively charged anions, undergoing complex physical, chemical, colloid chemistry, and electrochemical changes.
