The electrophoretic coating process on standard metal surfaces involves a comprehensive series of steps: Pre-cleaning → On-line → Oil removal → Washing → Rust removal → Washing → Neutralization → Washing → Phosphating → Washing → Passivation → Electrophoretic coating → In-tank cleaning → Ultra-filtration → Drying → Off-line.

1. Electrophoresis: Under a DC electric field, positively and negatively charged colloidal particles migrate towards the negative and positive electrodes, a dynamic movement also referred to as swimming.
2. Electrolysis: At the electrodes, redox reactions take place, resulting in oxidation and reduction phenomena, essential for the coating process.
3. Electrodeposition: During electrophoresis, charged colloidal particles move toward the anode. Here, they release electrons and form an insoluble deposit, creating a robust paint film on the template surface.
