4. Electroosmosis: In an electric field, the liquid phase moves while the solid phase remains stationary. Electroosmosis expels water from the paint film, eventually forming a dense paint film with very low water content and high resistance, even to current flow.
For instance, iron red epoxy electrophoresis paint consists of a modified epoxy resin system with butanol, ethanolamine, talc, and iron red substances. Mixed with distilled water, the paint separates into positively charged cations and negatively charged anions under a DC electric field. This initiates a series of complex physical, chemical, colloid chemical, and electrochemical transformations.
