Electrophoretic coating is an advanced technology where the object to be painted acts as the anode and is immersed in a water-soluble paint. A corresponding cathode is set up, and direct current is passed between the two poles. The standard process flow for electrophoretic coating on metal surfaces includes the following steps: Pre-cleaning → On-line → Oil removal → Washing → Rust removal → Washing → Neutralization → Washing → Phosphating → Washing → Passivation → Electrophoretic coating → Tank cleaning → Ultra-filtration → Drying → Off-line.
The electrophoretic coating process is a sophisticated technique that comprises four concurrent processes.

1. Electrophoresis: Under the influence of a DC electric field, colloidal particles that are positively and negatively charged move towards the negative and positive electrodes, respectively, in a process also known as swimming.
2. Electrolysis: Redox reactions occur at the electrodes, leading to oxidation and reduction phenomena at these points.
3. Electrodeposition: Driven by electrophoresis, charged colloidal particles move towards the anode, release electrons, and deposit in an insoluble state, forming a paint film at the surface of the template.

5. Taking iron red epoxy electrophoresis paint as an example: This system comprises modified epoxy resin, butanol, ethanolamine, talc, and iron red substances. When mixed with distilled water and subjected to a DC electric field, the paint separates into positively charged cations and negatively charged anions, undergoing a series of complex physical, chemical, colloidal, and electrochemical changes.
